14 Horses Killed in Blaze

myATLtv.com is reporting today that a horse barn at Westbrooke Farms near the Paulding/Cobb County line was set aflame last night killing 14 horses inside. Firefighters arrived on scene finding the roof already collapsed, while the closest hydrant was over 2,000 feet away on Burnt Hickory Road.

Lawsuit Filed Against Pilot in N.C. Crash

The Atlanta Journal and Constitution is reporting today that the family of Frank Ruggiero, who was one of the six people killed during a plane crash in North Carolina ferrying some Paulding County officials, have filed a lawsuit in Polk County Superior Court for unspecified compensatory damages. The family believes that the pilot was at fault for not having the aircraft at a proper altitude and being aware of his surroundings, thus killing all on board.

Paulding: WellStar Planning 127 Acre Development

The Atlanta Business Chronicle is reporting today that WellStar Health System is planning to develop a new medical facility on 127 acres at “the Cedarcrest Road/Seven Hills Parkway corridor in North Paulding County,” near the community of Dallas. Part of the deal includes “a pledged donation to the WellStar Foundation in excess of $5 million.”

WellStar has until the end of the year to complete the deal.
