With the end of the 2008 session of the Georgia Legislature coming tonight, lawmakers have been hammering out last-minute details to get their bills passed. Two bills that supporters are trying to get passed by the end of the session would overhaul the state’s firearms laws.

The annual Douglas County Special Olympics was held Thursday at Chapel Hill High School, beginning at 9 a.m. Over 325 athletes representing all grade levels and schools in the county participated.

AHS fans at Braves stadium

A large contingent of fans from Alexander High School were at the Atlanta Braves - Pittsuburgh Pirates game Wednesday night in support of AHS grad Matt Capps who is a relief pitcher for the Pirates. Capps did not get a chance to enter the game, but his family and many friends let him know that they were there.

Grand jury: Courthouse poor, jail and prison fine

A grand jury decided Carroll County is doing well with two out of the three buildings jurors toured this week. Not surprisingly, the building that got low marks was the courthouse.
