DISCUSSION ITEMS – BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

ANNOUNCEMENTS

The Douglas County Courthouse will be closed Friday, March 21st, in observance of Good Friday.

On Tuesday night, March 25th, we invite our residents to attend the Walk of Honor and Pathway of Service Ceremony to honor 6 Douglas County citizens. The program begins at 6:00 p.m. in the Douglas County Courthouse Atrium and is open to the Public with free admission. It will also be televised live on dctv23. We are honoring Mr. Shawn Troosdale for his rescue of an accident victim, saving his life; Mr. Curtis Little for his service to the County as our Safety and Emergency Management Director; Mrs. Helen Meade for her service to the County as County Clerk and Executive Director of the Cultural Arts Council; Mrs. Cindy Chaffin for her service as Clerk of Superior Court; Mr. Charlie Dodson for his service as Chairman of the Board of Commissioners; and Mr. Robert Howell, a World War II veteran who ensures that all military veterans receive their just and due respect and thanks. We invite our citizens to be here with us to honor these remarkable members of our community.

We invite all Douglas County residents to meet and greet the County staff and get information about County services and programs during our County Government Week exhibit inside Arbor Place mall Friday - Sunday, April 4th - 6th. This annual event is one of our ways to take government out of the Courthouse and bring it to the people. Our theme this year is “Protecting Our Children”, and the department exhibits will reflect how we work to protect the next generation. On Saturday afternoon, April 5th, we invite our residents to bring their children to the “Touch a Truck Experience” for kids from 12 noon - 4 p.m. in the parking lot of the mall. The “Touch A Truck Experience” will feature Sheriff’s cars, fire trucks, the fire safety house, the CARE Program driving simulator, road equipment, and many more vehicles and pieces of equipment for kids to climb in, on and over. We look forward to meeting our residents, and we encourage you to come and see us the first weekend in April.
